4. Models
To test the different jet-finder algorithms and to evaluate their
performance/applicability different event generators are used.
- PYTHIA to generate p+p collisions at 5.5 TeV with a hard
parton scattering in a given pT range (~jet with given Et).
- HIJING to generate Pb+Pb collisions at 5.5 TeV.
It is planned to "embedd" the PYTHIA p+p "jet" event into the HIJING
heavy ion "background" event to have a handle on the efficiency/applicability
of the different jetfinders in a high multiplicity enviroment.
These event generators and the settings used for this study are descriped
in detail in the following subsections. A ROOT interface exists for all
used event generators, the one to PYTHIA 6.1 is included in the official
ROOT release, the one to HIJING is a private version of ALICE.
A Monte Carlo model for the simulation of elementary collisions (ee,pp)
based on the LUND string fragmentation model.
A detailed and very informative documentation
exists which also explains most of the physics involved.
I'm currently using version 6.1??, there exists a newer version 6.2??
which would require some changes in the ROOT
interface TPythia6.
Detailed description of model parameters and used code still missing...
A Monte Carlo model for the simulation of heavy ion collisions at LHC
and RHIC energies.
There exists only a short online documentation
.
I'm currently using version 1.35, maybe one should go to 1.36, but I
don't have the sources available.
Detailed description of model parameters and used code still missing...
